Can you transfer large files/music to the GS5 using USB 3.0 port and speeds

This is confusing me. I can only seem to charge on USB3.0 even with the newest Kies drivers, and only transfer and see my sd card space usng 2.0

Is there any downside to opening kies with my ROOTED gs3 plugged in?
